Maintaining Environmental Harmony in the Cilacap Power Plant Area
Jakarta - S2P Technical & Operations Director Irvan Rahmat emphasized that the Cilacap PLTU not only functions as an electricity provider, but also provides tangible benefits to the community and the surrounding environment. He said that the power plant area is kept beautiful and even serves as a habitat for several species of animals. He made these remarks to Listrik Indonesia Journalists some time ago, as quoted on Wednesday (September 10, 2025).
“In Cilacap, besides the units being pristine, we have camels, we have deer. Why? Because we want to show that if animals are comfortable, then the environment is comfortable,” said Irvan.
In addition to protecting the environment, the Cilacap Power Plant also contributes to social and educational causes. It has established good relationships with the community and local government, ensuring that the plant's operations run smoothly. The availability of local labor is considered sufficient to support operational activities, while the local government is actively providing support, including in the area of construction permits.
These various measures reflect S2P's commitment to making the Cilacap PLTU part of regional development. The power plant is expected to not only perform its main function of providing energy, but also to drive cross-sector growth, improve community welfare, and support environmental sustainability.
“We want the Cilacap PLTU to be part of regional development, not only as a provider of electricity, but also as a driver of cross-sector growth,” concluded Irvan.
