Cilacap - Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi invited investors to invest in southern Central Java. With its natural potential and availability of vast land, he believes that incoming investments will improve the welfare of residents and equalize economic development in the north and south.
This was conveyed by Ahmad Luthfi during his visit to the Karangkandri-Cilacap Power Plant on Wednesday (March 12, 2025). Also present at the event were Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong and Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman.
According to him, the potential of the southern region of Central Java is not inferior to the northern coast of Java. Luthfi cited the example of investment from China in the construction of the Karangkandri Power Plant.
"He (the Chinese Ambassador) has invested in the PLTU, not only in the electricity sector, but also in KITB Batang and KEK Kendal. We will explore the southern region, possibly in Banyumas, but primarily in Cilacap. Thus, the deviation between the north and south will not be too noticeable," said the governor at the Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P) Tower, located within the Karangkandri Power Plant complex in Cilacap.
He did not deny the fact that in the North Coast of Java, there are already many areas designated for industry. This contrasts with the situation in the southern part of Central Java. However, Luthfi noted that Cilacap and other areas in southern Central Java are promising regions for investment.
“We invite Chinese investors and other investors to invest in the southern region, to create a special industrial zone in the southern region,” he said.
Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong said that China has invested in Central Java, including in Cilacap, and is exploring investment opportunities in KITB Batang.
“China will increase communication and cooperation with Central Java in the fields of ports, industry, manufacturing, education, and tourism,” he said.
Wang Lutong assessed that Central Java is a strategic area that will be targeted for investment, after Jakarta and Bandung.
Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman appreciated Ahmad Luthfi's visit. He hopes the governor will help promote his region as an investment-worthy district.
This is marked by the preparation of approximately 2,700 hectares of land for an industrial zone. He hopes Lutfhi can serve as a channel for information and communication to attract investors to Cilacap.
To attract investors, Syamsul promises investment services, such as easier and faster permitting processes.
